Once upon a time, there was a little girl who loved to read. She wasn't a voracious reader but she did read for fun. Her Grandpa, Mom, and Dad were avid readers. While she found it difficult to read every day, she was determined not to give up, for she wanted to be just like them. She had school work and a wandering mind. Yet, she persevered over the years and read as much as she could. Then one day, suddenly --'ta dummm'. What was that? Lo and behold, Netflix came into her life. The little girl wasn't little anymore. In fact, she was a grownup with a mobile phone with unlimited data, and could afford to pay monthly subscription fees for Netflix and Amazon Prime! To say the least, gone are the days when she longed to read books. She is now deep down the rabbit hole of online content, greedily consuming the products churned out by the giant media mills that are never low on grist. She's terribly addicted to it. But worry not, for she's aware of her predicament. She's making earnest attempts to rid herself of this vice.
This is the not-so-little, in-the-trenches striving-to-read, no longer a girl but a grown woman's attempt, nay, seemingly Sisyphean undertaking (hopefully, not!) to get back into reading!
